Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences
The Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS) is an independent faculty-and-student-based professional association in higher education, designed to serve the needs of environmental scholars and scientists who value interdisciplinary approaches to research, teaching, and problem-solving.
Since 2009, the Association has held an annual meeting. Each year a Site Selection Committee works to find a location. If you are interested in hosting an AESS conference at your institution, please review our proposal guidelines and contact hostAESS@aessonline.org.
Our annual conference brings an interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues in an academic setting. We take a collegial approach where ideas are shared in small, informal sessions that are panel, paper, and presentation based and include roundtable discussions at meals. Students, professors, and government and industry professionals alike participate in lively and interactive sessions that cover topics across the conference theme.
In 2020, this looked a little different, but attendees met virtually for exciting talks, panel sessions, discussions, posters, award presentations and more. We aim to build on the successes of 2020 for our 2021 event.
AESS conferences offer volunteer opportunities with the benefit of attending portions of the event without paying for registration. Complete the form to be contacted by the Site Coordinator for consideration.
