This richly illustrated book focuses on the highly inventive furniture designed by the celebrated modernist architect, R. M. Schindler (1887-1953). His many designs for built-in and freestanding furniture illustrate his concept of “space architecture” or the total designed environment.An introductory essay by David and Patricia Gebhard details Schindler’s architectural heritage in Europe and, after 1914, in America, especially his experience working with Frank Lloyd Wright.
